Hello! I'm Alejs, pronounced 'Alex'. My areas of focus are: LGBTQIA+ issues. Trauma & C-PTSD (adverse childhood experiences, sexualized violence, religious trauma). Non-normative relationships & lifestyles. 1st gen. & immigrant Canadians. Deep thinkers who want to explore their emotions but don't know where to start. My genuine warmth, humour and curiosity play a big role in my counselling approach. It’s important to me that my clients feel well-supported when digging into difficult material. My goal is to support you in finding new ways to explore and attend to the places and parts of yourself where you feel stuck or lost.
My relational somatic approach is informed by emergent research on attachment and neurophysiology. You can expect a curious invitation to reconnect to the wisdom inherent in the body. This approach offers creative ways to process distress related to trauma and living in a world not built for most of us to thrive. I also use Brainspotting.
Reaching out is a great step towards a better relationship with yourself and your communities. Counselling can help guide you towards a deeper, more embodied sense of confidence and agency in your life. It is common for the process to feel vulnerable and uncomfortable; I will meet you at whatever stage you are at in your personal process.
