Substance Abuse and Chemical Dependency are neurological disorders that negatively effect millions of GOOD people! Rapid advancements in research and technology have provided breakthroughs in our understanding of the brain's role in addiction. The GOOD news is substance abuse and chemical dependency can be effectively treated, but most of us cannot do it alone....we usually need help! I am a recovering person myself and understand the complexities of this disease. I would be privileged to share with you what I have learned about the neuroscience of this disease and assist you on your journey of recovery.
There are many complex reasons why some people abuse or become addicted to substances while other people do not: family history, genetics, living environment, parental modeling, self-medicating anxiety, stress depression, etc. In my view, the best treatment model and therapeutic approach to recovery is through Cognitive Behavioral Change.
I began using alcohol and marijuana in my teen years that progressed into a 30 year odyssey of substance abuse and ultimately chemical dependency (addiction). I cannot guarantee sobriety for anyone, but I can GUARANTEE you will have every opportunity to live a better life than you ever dreamed of!
