Real change is hard, long-term work not meant to be done alone. Dysfunctions around sexuality, food, money and work (the so-called "process" addictions) are primarily a struggle with intimacy. One needs to understand THE FUNCTION OF one's own self - destructive behaviors: that self hatred is not low self esteem; that contempt for others is not good self concept; that my wife is not the problem; and that sex is not my greatest need. I am several steps ahead of you on a journey I encourage you to take. Real change is hard, don't do it alone. :)
I use a relational - dynamic approach. The Client is offered feedback from my experience of them "in the room", with an hypothesis regarding the wider implications for them in their current relationships. An exploration is then possible of the historical origin of their strategies for self protection and self promotion.
Becoming a Christian in 1986, following two years of alcohol and drug rehab, I worked in Outback Aboriginal Communities, Inner City Rescue Missions, Perth Bible College, and now in Private Practice. Facing the affect of being sexually abused on my own struggles with intimacy, remains the salient issue.

Professionally led and clinically focused PROCESS GROUPS FOR MEN. A supportive, yet rigorous environment created for men who struggle with intimacy and relating to others. Honest vulnerability, and the courage to face one's own inadequacy and paradoxically one's surprising sufficiency as men, is required. An excellent extension of a client's 12 Step Group work; accountability group work; Marriage or Individual counseling. The focus will be on one's personal narrative and connecting the historical choices to deaden and harden one's heart (at great detriment to ourselves) and CURRENT self-defeating strategies, negatively impacting our relationships today.
