The voice in the head has a life of its own. Most people are at the mercy of that voice; they are possessed by thought & by the mind. Since the mind is conditioned by the past, you are then forced to reenact the past again and again. This quote by Eckart Tolle is at the core of my belief in what troubles most of us. We live in our minds, incessantly thinking about our fears, failings, troubled relationships, losses, & shortcomings. We spend too much time inside the mind. The trouble is that when we treat our thoughts and feelings as facts, we allow anxiety, doubt, sadness, hopelessness & self-loathing to take hold and thrive.
I utilize a combination of strategies to help combat the nuisance voice in the head. The key goal is to get out of your mind and back into living your life with a passion and a sense of purpose. I also like to focus on breaking the unhelpful coping patterns that may have been established years ago. Kindness and compassion are my fundamental values.
I strive at creating a nonjudgemental environment where we can work together to learn the principles of being in the present moment while also developing techniques to build self acceptance and self compassion.
