Currently full but can help match Deaf people to therapists. My approach is integrative and primarily informed by EMDR therapy. I prioritize remaining person-centered and trauma informed, which basically just means that our sessions are about you and what you want and that I avoid pathologizing behaviors and feelings that could be the result of a traumatic experience. I look at therapy through a social justice and anti-oppression lens. I believe counseling should offer a safe, non-judgmental opportunity to explore and discover a path to your own place of peace. Therapy is very much about the relationship between the therapist and the client. It's a place to learn to develop trust in an atmosphere of acceptance. The rapport we develop is the first step to beginning the process of your healing.
I am fluent in Sign Language and have been involved in the Deaf and DeafBlind community for over 20 years. Much of my career has been spent working with children and childrens' issues. For 2008 - 2018, though, I have been counseling primarily with adults. I have been working as a therapist since 2000.
