Social Emotional Learning
EMPATH Social Emotional Learning is an emotional management program designed to teach applied skills. Students are taught in small groups led by the clinician using specific visual cues and problem-solving diagrams (Skill Acquisition). The model and cues are then used to elicit specific skills for emotional and behavioral management (Fluency), while helping each other work through problems (Maintenance). Cueing can be used by parents to elicit stimulus-response conditions to meet behavioral expectations across multiple environments (Generalization). Specific skills trained include...sustained focus and effort, impulse control, emotional management, flexible thinking, perspective-taking, self-awareness, managing peer conflict, and initiating/building/maintaining positive relationships.
