I am trained in counseling interventions designed to positively impact stress, life adjustments and marital issues as well as psychological concerns such as addictions, depression and anxiety. I specialize in assisting individuals to overcome the challenges associated with the diagnosis of traumatic illness. I have extensive experience working with individuals, couples and families impacted by illnesses that include HIV/AIDS, Huntington's Disease and Hepatitis. I hold an independent clinical social worker license from the State of Iowa.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Indiana University in 1988. I successfully completed my Masters of Social Work at the University of Iowa in 2006. I completed two years post-graduate training in psychotherapy and pastoral counseling in 2008.
I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Phi Alpha National Honors Society. I have twice presented my work on traumatic illness and the development of the self at the National Conference on HIV/AIDS and Social Work.
