Sometimes we need support with what has happened, what is happening in our lives now, or the uncertainty of what the future holds. Maybe you feeling deeply out of alignment with yourself, partners, children, or community. Our relationships to ourselves and each other is dynamic and can get messy. We find ourselves responding, feeling, and living in ways that don't serve us or the ones we love. I'm here to support folks, who are looking for a place to process experiences, move towards healthier relationships with family members and loved ones, and want help learning new ways of working with feelings.

Free yourself from the anxiety trap! Anxiety, panic, worry and stress can hold people back from performing in life. It can hold people back in school, from getting the job they want, getting promoted, and flourishing in relationships. Trying to escape anxiety can lead people to doing things they wouldn't normally do. When people are frozen with fear they are not living life fully as their authentic selves. Working with a therapist can break you free from anxiety. I've helped so many people work through these feelings to go on to be more successful in their lives.

You try your best to focus, but you just can’t concentrate. As soon as you let your guard down, even for a moment, the familiar sense of panic gets it's grip on you. It clouds your mind with fear and makes even the simplest tasks impossible. You’ve experienced some bad situations, but you thought you were over it now. Unfortunately, the painful past isn’t done with you. There’s a hard knot in the pit of your belly that won't go away. Horrible memories play on repeat in your mind. Now it’s affecting every aspect of your life. It’s hard to feel close to anyone. You want to make a change, but it feels so hopeless.

Whether a major life event that has thrown you off track, or over time you have realized that you are not where you want to be in life, therapy can help. It is common to find yourself feeling lost, unhappy, overwhelmed, or disconnected at various times in your life. Therapy can provide you with insight to find new ways of dealing with things that bring about positive changes, quicker than you realize may be possible.

I work with older teens and adults who want support in meeting the challenges they face with more ease. In my counseling sessions I provide a space that is open, safe, and nonjudgmental. I listen closely for all that is present in you in the moment, and I offer reflections and questions to help you bring greater awareness to your experience. Over time, we can together begin to notice patterns of thinking, believing, and acting that have woven through your past and present. We may begin to see what has been helpful, and also what is now keeping you out of alignment with the life that is authentic to you.

I see therapy as a partnership and a safe, affirming space to collaborate on goals, kick around ideas, ponder weird thoughts, dive deeper into behaviors, habits, stressors, and explore new areas of yourself. I love working with adolescent and young adults who are exploring new freedoms, relationships, personality development, and how to try to get through that stage of life with some kind of grace and less cringe. I really enjoy working with adults across the life span to help them create a life that they thrive in and is aligned with their values.

I help recovering over-thinkers blossom into their authenticity. Message me for a free consult! Transitioning out from a life run by overthinking can be really challenging. As you assert yourself in various situations, you may find yourself in better jobs, relationships, or newfound self-awareness. Yet, irritability, insecurity, racing thoughts, and the pull of old habits like doom scrolling, social avoidance, or overworking persists. It’s one thing to leave unhealthy places, it’s another to live in the new healthier spaces!

I am not currently accepting new clients. I am a child & adolescent therapist, with a focus on helping children with ADHD & co-occurring disorders. Often children are reacting to difficult life circumstances and need help processing their feelings. These problems can cause additional stress on the family and damage relationships. I work to help the child & family through the difficult time and repair relationships.

You are here because something needs to change for you or a loved one. Maybe there's a gap between what you logically understand and what you emotionally 'know' to be true that feels impossible to bridge. You might be struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, addiction--to a substance or a behavior. You might be looking for skills to cope with life's challenges--managing emotions, healthy communication, and organization. You might be looking for relief from painful events that still effect your day to day life. You deserve to be happy, to take care of yourself and your loved ones, and to feel safe.

Life can bring challenges that we are unprepared to cope with. Emotional pain can be difficult and it is sometimes hard to ask for help. I strive to provide hope, support, and direction so that you may find peace. There are times when extra support and an outside view helps to gain clarity and direction. At other times, you may want a guide to help dig deeper into past issues to transform and grow. I create a comfortable environment that encourages growth and self acceptance.

Depression. Anxiety. Trauma. Grief. If only we could just flip a switch to turn them off! Too often others say "You shouldn't feel that way" or "Get over it." No one chooses to be unhappy. And though there is no on-off switch for our thoughts and emotions, with the right help we can change rebuild our our lives so we are really living. Throughout my time in practice, I've found that what helps most is warmth, respect, careful listening and a collaborative approach that fits the treatment to the person.

Almost everyone at times needs some support or coaching on their life journey. As a seasoned therapist I'd be happy to sit down with you and compasionately listen to your story and lend some hope and support. I see "crisis" as an opportunity to face and overcome the dangers around and in us and a time to open up to the radiance and mysteries of Life.

Currently accepting new clients. Therapy can be difficult, but I hope to help the process with warmth and humor when appropriate. I am excited to work with adults, elders, youth, and children who are wanting to find a way back to themselves. In therapy we might work on building skills, gaining knowledge, or talking about current or past difficulties and experiences. I have a sliding scale from 90$-125$ and can provide superbills to help the reimbursement process with your insurance company. I cannot guarantee that your insurance company will accept my superbill so please check with your provider.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Olympia?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
