Waitlist for new clients
I am taking not taking new clients. Reach out be put on my waiting list. Therapeutic fit, or how well we “click,” is one of the strongest predictors of successful therapy. In therapy you’ve got to feel able to take risks and be vulnerable. I’m a Certificated Daring Way Facilitator, a therapeutic approach based on Brené Brown’s research on vulnerability & shame (root of perfectionism & feeling not good enough). I am also trained in DBT (emotion regulation skill development), EMDR (trauma approach) and shame resiliency. I have over 15 years of experience. Let's get you taking steps toward your highest self!

If you are being completely honest with yourself, are you happy with your life? That question can bring up a lot of thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. Life can be very challenging, and many people struggle to cope. The good news is you do not have to do it alone. I can help you process what you are experiencing and develop healthier, more effective coping and communication skills. For in-person clients, I offer hiking sessions and rock-climbing sessions. Vibroacoustic therapy and somatic processing are also available to in-person clients and help release stress and trauma from the body.

Brené Brown said “We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.” Life can get messy and hard and too often we believe that we must figure it out on our own or have all the answers. It is my belief that we do have the answers inside of us but sometimes we need guidance to find them.

Not accepting new clients
After working in this field for over 30 years, and spending my life researching and mastering some of the most powerful, transformational tools available, I love having the opportunity to watch as people’s lives and relationships grow closer to what brings them joy. I love watching as clients are able to quickly and efficiently turn their lives around once they receive the knowledge and support they’ve been looking for. My goal is that when you come to my office, you will leave feeling better than you did when you arrived, and you will leave with new skills that you can begin practicing from that day forward.

Are you struggling to create the adventurous, meaningful life you imagined, free of anxiety, depression and irritability? I work with ambitious, professional women who want to have better boundaries, healthier relationships and improved self-esteem. My clients reduce people-pleasing behaviors, stabilize their mood and experience greater confidence as they navigate life's seasons and transitions (including motherhood, faith crisis, divorce, loss and much more). People experiencing depression, anxiety and trauma / PTSD can have a range of painful experiences. Day to day, chronic irritability can wear on your nerves, damage your relationships, and drive your stress level sky high. Are you on edge as soon as you start getting ready for the day, feeling sensitive, reactive or foggy even though the sun has barely come up? And when the day is done you want to relax but this is when your heart starts to pound in your chest? None of your coping skills seem to help enough-if you can muster the strength and time to use them. This is the reality of depression, anxiety and trauma.

My name is Carlos. If you are on this page, I would guess you’re looking for a therapist for yourself or a loved one. I am the owner and operator of Trauma Treatment & Counseling, LLC. I opened my practice with a focus to help people heal from their traumas. As the practice grew, I shifted my focus into the training and development of an amazing clinical team of therapists. I shared my knowledge and helped them to grow in myriad ways. For a time, I had closed my caseload entirely so I could focus on the development of my team members. I am now opening my caseload again to continue my original passion as a healer.

Many individuals, couples, and families find themselves in difficult and stressful situations. Whether it be depression, anxiety, difficulty in communication, or any number of other stressors, these individuals and families desire to make adjustments and changes to improve their lives and relationships. A strong first step for many of these individuals and families is to begin therapy.

Everyone needs help at times, and that’s okay. I have several years experience working with individuals dealing with chronic anxiety, chronic depression, complex trauma, and issues related to neurodiversity. I’ve worked with girls at the end of high school transitioning to college, as well as adults of multiple genders. I also have many years working with children in different settings, many of whom dealt with multiple diagnoses. Some of these issues include ADHD, OCD, autism, depression, anxiety, and trauma.

Licensed in Utah and Nevada, offices in Saint George and Mesquite. I believe the counseling process a collaborative journey. The journey begins without judgement in a safe and helping environment.... Each of you has a life story and within that story are opportunities for growth, happiness, and fulfillment. Many of you are feeling emotional pain, frustrations, anger, fear, and hopelessness. You are not "broken" just likely realizing that the problem solving tools that may have worked in the past may be dull or worn. Many times we are not sure what to do, or where to look for help. Now is a great time to call and start your journey.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Saint George?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
