My practice has been built on my unique ability to connect with clients and to quickly understand the necessary steps to take for symptom relief. I take a collaborative approach - meaning I believe people intrinsically know where they need to go, even as they realize the need for guidance on just how to get there. We partner together in order to achieve relief from depression, anxiety, divorce, PTSD, and relational issues with spouse/significant other, children and families. I also deal with spiritual issues in an effort to achieve more peace with self and God.

Currently accepting new clients. Tired of fighting the sense of depression, anxiety, or loss of control brought about by traumatic events? Are you looking for help with your relationship? My clients tend to be goal-oriented, and are willing to invest time into their own lives or in their relationships in order to change them. With a few exceptions, our work will be limited to no more than 20 sessions to help maintain that focus. Therapy doesn't have to be a life-long experience for most people. NM Clients: While I am licensed in NM, I no longer have an office in the state. Thus, all NM appointments are via telehealth.

It takes courage to seek help and I admire those who do. Although I have worked with people with various issues through the years; trauma, grief, estrangement, anxiety and mood-related issues are primary interests. I enjoy working with teens, adults, and couples. Although I am trained in several approaches, I don't believe in a "one size fits all" approach to therapy. As a trained CCTP (Certified Clinical Trauma Professional), many of the skills I have gained through training apply to people with various life difficulties and challenges.

My counseling philosophy involves allowing a client to be themselves and working to meet them "wherever they may be on their own self discovery journey". I have been in the counseling field for over 20 years and have tremendous experience working with several populations. I have learned that individuals have the innate capacity to grow and become their best selves, given an environment in which they can do so. Asking for help to do this can be very difficult. Regardless of the obstacles in your life, you have the capacity to move forward.

l I've found people do the best they can with what they've got. Coming to therapy takes courage to find a new way of being. While figuring out what is working well, and where adjustments are needed, we will have fun, too. Rather than simply listening to you, or asking about your feelings, I tend toward questions about thoughts and actions. It's okay if you don't know yet what needs to change. We will make plans together to meet goals we set in the first few sessions. These will focus on changing thoughts and behaviors that aren't helpful or effective.

Are you struggling with a transition or other difficult situation? Are you having trouble knowing what you want to do next? Life transitions, however unanticipated or unwelcome, provide you with opportunities to examine the choices you've made so far and to create a more satisfying future. Unpleasant emotions (such as anger, sadness, or anxiety) can also provide you an opportunity to reconsider your beliefs and behaviors. Counseling can be the ideal place for you to sort out what you are feeling and want. However, it is vitally important that you find a counselor you like and trust in order to make change possible.

Thanks for visiting my site. I am a licensed clinical social worker who is in practice to meet people where they are, and support them as they traverse the work that brings them to session. Personal crisis, work burnout, the loss of a loved one, and stressful situations like those of 2020 make life even harder. Just deciding to change, talking yourself through it or “pulling yourself up by the boot straps” doesn't always work. Sometimes your pain is deep and rooted in the past. Maybe it’s not clear to you and held in your subconscious. That is often a normal outcome when we don’t get the support we need in our time of struggle. Hi! We all go through periods in our lives where a little extra help and guidance is necessary. Whatever struggle may be presenting itself in your life, I believe you have the ability to make it through this challenge with increased insight, compassion and the tools to thrive. I believe treatment works best through a collaborative, supportive and non-judgmental approach where my role is to help guide and equip you with the necessary tools and coping skills. Ultimately, though, you are the expert in your healing process.

I am a Certified IFS Therapist and owner of Dybka Behavioral Health, a virtual group practice serving Idaho and specializing in the treatment of disordered eating. At Dybka Behavioral Health, our passion is assisting clients who want recovery, but require guidance. We view eating disorders as protective trauma responses, not disease; and assist clients with the healing and integration of wounds that fuel these trauma responses. In this process, clients learn to access their own sense of Self. If your goal is beyond symptom reduction and into life-long transformation, we are here to help you achieve it.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Boise?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
