At Center for Human Potential, located in downtown Salt Lake City, we focus on helping people achieve balance and fulfillment. We have many talented psychologists, social workers, and psychiatrists able to help children, adolescents, adults, and seniors with a variety of difficulties. We provide counseling to individuals, couples, and families. We also prescribe psychiatric medication and offer psychological testing to screen for ADHD and learning disabilities. We accept most health insurance plans and offer a sliding fee scale, based on income level, for those without insurance.

The philosophy of New Beginnings is a multifaceted and collaborative approach based on Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Using true client centered methods, interventions and treatments are tailored to focus on patterns of thinking that are maladaptive and the beliefs that undermine such thinking. Our treatment process is two fold: (1) helping our clients make true internal change through exploring and healing emotional scars, while (2) helping our clients extinguish and replace overt behaviors through external modification, resulting in the overall corrective emotional experience.

Throughout the 21st century, the United States has been impacted by epidemic levels of opioid abuse, addiction, and overdose. In 2000, opioid overdoses were responsible for about 8,400 deaths in the U.S. By 2020, the annual number of opioid overdose deaths in the U.S. had risen to more than 68,000. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach that can be a valuable tool in the effort to reverse this trend. People who take part in MAT receive prescription medications that can ease the intense cravings and other distressing symptoms that are characteristic of opioid withdrawal. When they take these medications as directed, they may find it easier to stop using heroin, prescription pills, morphine, fentanyl, and other opioids. However, prescription medication cannot address the behavioral and social aspects of opioid addiction and recovery. To help people make the lifestyle changes that will support long-term recovery from opioid addiction, MAT programs also provide counseling. During counseling sessions, MAT patients can learn to manage stress, resolve conflicts, and deal with other difficult circumstances in a healthy manner without resorting to opioid abuse.

PHP Treatment at Recovery Ways offers the most structure and care in the outpatient setting. We provide substance abuse and mental health services in the context of our treatment environment. Our skilled and dedicated clinicians create structured and caring environment. Patients are able to attend treatment during the day and then return home in the evenings to practice the skills they are learning. Treatment includes a variety of evidence-based services that build on strengths and address problems associated with the complex conditions of each individual and their family. We provide support to patients and families and help develop a plan for time off campus. We work as a team with patients and families to provide support during PHP Treatment and a plan for time off campus to maintain sobriety. During PHP Treatment, patients engage in groups based on CBT, DBT, Sensory Integration, Recreational Therapy, individual, group and family therapy. Our qualified mental health providers have been selected for their outstanding educational credentials, experience in the field, client care principles, and high integrity and experience in their particular fields of specialty. Our therapists have expertise in the area of LGBTQ+, particularly Transgender/Gender Non-Conforming/Gender Identity/Gender Dysphoria, Faith Crises or Faith Transitions, Minority Issues, Women's Issues, Trauma, Couples/Marriage Counseling, and more! Conversational Spanish Speaking services also offered. We specialize in working with gender spectrum clients and we openly and willingly write WPATH standard compliant letters for all procedures and for insurance company approvals for the transgender community. Emerge Treatment is a comprehensive and holistic day treatment facility designed to address the mental health needs of young women between the ages of 18 and 30. With a focus on the well-being of the whole person, Emerge offers a 60 to 90-day program that provides individual counseling, group therapy, skill-building, and physical-health based approaches.
