In a caring environment, I specialize in facilitating clients' return to everyday life following trauma, loss, or difficulty with relationships. Using traditional therapeutic methods in the office or Equine Assisted Psychotherapy outside in the fresh air with therapeutic horses, clients develop skills and discover wisdom to cope with and overcome obstacles in their lives. No experience with horses is required and no riding of horses takes place.
Why horses? Without judging or holding grudges, horses quickly reflect our moods, our fears, our kindness, and our pain. Horses' instinct to assess the clients' trustworthiness results in real time responses from clients. Equine therapy empowers clients to identify relationship problems, improve communication, and to make changes to enhance their lives.
My lifetime experience includes 30 years working with children and families in educational settings as well as eight years in therapeutic settings. Experienced as a teacher and school administrator, I have extensive experience with special education programs and the Individual Educational Plan process. Services are provided in English or Spanish, as needed.
