My focus will be how you may heal your relationship. As a Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist, I will work with you to identify the source of your pain, and lead you through a process of healing. Included in the counseling process will be hope, help and establishing a secure base for your life and a "new normal".
I find great joy in counseling couples and families. Couples forget how deeply we wound each other, even when we think we love the other. Healing these wounds requires learning new skills and practicing new behaviors. Coaching couples to relate in a new way is one aspect of my therapy.
Helping couples prepare for marriage is another specialty. From a personal perspective, after 40 years of marriage, I have learned some important principles which may equip couples for a lasting relationship. As a trained facilitator for the "Prepare/Enrich Inventory" I know it can give couples a strong foundation.

Groups
Growing through Grief
Recovering from the death of a loved one is not a "quick fix". Therefore the grief group strives to provide an accepting and safe place for the wounds to heal. Talking about your loved one who died is an important part of the group session along with lerning what "helps and hints" for coping with the loss may be available. Those who have experienced multiple losses over a period of three to five years will also find this group helpful.
