Are you coming for help with adjusting to a life transition, healing trauma, grieving a loss, coping with a diagnosis, or not quite getting to what your life is all about? Our work begins with my deeply listening to what brings you into therapy. Deep listening can be so healing in itself. I am strength-based, collaborative and practical.

My wait list is closed. Are anxiety or depression getting in the way of enjoying your life? Or have you gone through a traumatic event that left you with painful thoughts and feelings that won't go away? Perhaps you lived in a difficult family situation growing up, and now find yourself struggling with your mood or your relationships. Maybe there is a part of your identity that has not always found acceptance, and you are looking for an affirming space to explore living your most authentic life. Or you may worry about food and body image constantly. You may feel alone in your concerns, and wonder if anyone or anything can help.

Do you long for better relationships in your life? Would you like to understand more about yourself and how you relate to those around you? Do you feel like you're alone or like you are the only one who feels the way you feel? Do you notice similar things happening in your relationships over and over again? Group therapy feels scary at first for most of us, but it can be the perfect place to work on issues like these. Whether introverted or extraverted, we are all inherently social creatures. Healing in community with others is natural to our species but is an art that many of us have lost.

I believe that all people have strengths, no matter what their struggles are. I also believe that we all have the potential to be the experts of our own lives. It is from this belief that I work collaboratively and compassionately with each client to explore how to utilize these strengths and determine how the stories that shape our world can be a part of our growth process. When working with me, we will discuss how your experiences, relationships, identity, and community can ultimately be a part of what helps you to address your personal concerns and supports you in being the agent of change in your life.

My therapeutic style is integrative with an IFS (Internal Family Systems) lens. I am very interactive, and I am transparent and will let clients know what I am thinking. I want my clients to let me know if that is off the mark for them, as I trust the client knows their inner system best and that is a resource for our work. I provide a compassionate presence as clients explore the issues they struggle with. I help clients to gain a better perspective around their current life struggles, their own role in those struggles, and their ability to access more inner support, clarity and peace.

I provide professional counseling online using a tele-med platform to clients 25 and over who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship and marital issues and life transitions. It is easy to lose sight of what is vital to your well-being, serenity and happiness - when spending your life energy doing what needs to be done. Sometimes this becomes clear only when you feel you have lost your way, hit a wall, or are suddenly faced with a difficult life transition. This can be a painful, lonely and overwhelming place and it feels like a crisis. In those times, all that is required is to take one small step at a time.

As a systems oriented psychotherapist, I believe that we are connected to and affected by those around us. Our families of origin, communities, cultures, workplaces and families of choice impact our lives and sense of self. Relationships and experiences we have had in the past influence who we are and how we relate to the world. To live with the greatest joy and productivity we must heal past relational traumas and bring to consciousness effects they have had in our lives. By doing so, we are free to make thoughtful choices about how we live our lives and relate to others.

Everyday we make choices from the very mundane like what we have for breakfast or which shirt to wear, to the life changing like taking a new job, getting married, or moving somewhere you've never been. However easily these questions (and others) may be answered by some, there are many who have difficulty because the answers are not always so clear. Counseling can help in these moments of uncertainty. Whether it is a few hours of voicing your concerns or several months of assistance, a counselor can help you tackle life challenges more easily.

My philosophy is that each person has the ability within them to make changes in their life and my job as a therapist is to walk with each client on that journey. I offer a safe, non-judgmental environment to be able to process trauma that may be interfering with day-to-day life, learn and practice tools to ground and cope when triggers arise and to be able to problem solve in an unbiased place.

Over the years I see that I am very well-suited to work with clients who are experiencing a major life transition. These include changes in relationship status, employment, health, sexual/ gender identity, as well as retirement/ aging concerns. While transitions can bring new opportunities, such changes also come with an array of losses, endings and goodbyes. Transitions can generate challenging symptoms, including a sense of grieving, starting over and/or confronting the unknown. Life can lead one to a place where it pushes you to explore your personality and life choices, and make new sense of your life experiences.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Corvallis?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
